World Vegetarian Day is celebrated every year around the globe on the 1st of October. This day was established in 1977 by the North American Vegetarian Society. The International Vegetarian Union later endorsed the day in 1978. The purpose of World Vegetarian Day is “to promote the joy, compassion and life-enhancing possibilities of vegetarianism.” The day also brings awareness to the environmental, health, ethical and humanitarian benefits of following a vegetarian lifestyle.
“Vegetarian food leaves a deep impression on our nature. If the whole world adopts vegetarianism, it can change the destiny of humankind.” – Albert Einstein.
